We run an adaptive tennis class at The Arc Tampa Bay's Long Center day program and need volunteers to help assist on Monday afternoons from 12 to 1 pm.
No need to be a pro or even the equipment to play, we have it all.
Tennis has many benefits for both mind and body for everyone. Physically, playing tennis helps to improve balance, mobility, agility, strength, and fitness, and to burn calories.
Mentally, tennis works on one’s focus, concentration, and reactive and problem-solving behaviors. Emotionally it can promote self-confidence,
There is the potential that from this class will come the opportunity for participants to participate in Special Olympic events. Volunteers with the class will be able to assist at these events, but is not required.

Description
The ARC Tampa Bay is an agency for the developmentally disabled providing both in-house employment opportunities in the assembly, packaging, collation area. We also have personal, social and community services programs that teach basic life and home support skills to severe and profoundly disabled persons, developing their independence and self-esteem. ARC Tampa Bay provides extensive elder care including state-of-the-art residential services. ARC Tampa Bay also offers an active retirement curriculum known as the Development Enrichment Pogram. This is a brief synopsis of the activities and programs that ARC Tampa Bay provides.
