Purpose/Goal of Position: To support The Salvation Army Oceanside Corps in providing services to the community by teaching English to members of the community who are learning English as a second language. Classes are held every Tuesday from 5-6:30pm.
Qualifications/Skills/Certifications Needed:
1. Prior ESL Instructor experience or training preferred, but not required (training will be provided by the salvation army)
2. Ability to maintain confidentiality and boundaries as required and appropriate
3. Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and participants
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Prepare a syllabus and daily lesson plans for each class, based on student needs
2. Instruct assigned ESL class for a minimun of a 3-6 month period
3. Counsel and support students in developing and accomplishing individual learning goals, as needed
4. Document student attendance, progress, and areas of need
