Description

Since 1971, Birthright of Rochester has offered free and confidential pregnancy support to any woman regardless of age, income or ethnicity. Birthright’s focus is on the distressed mother and her baby.

Staffed almost exclusively by volunteers, we understand that each woman's situation is unique and our objective is to help her understand that she has options. Emphasizing accessibility, Birthright offers multiple locations throughout the greater Rochester area (Gates, East Rochester & Geneseo), and a 24 hour hotline so that assistance is always only a phone call away.

Birthright volunteers work to locate and connect clients with key resources in our community, such as prenatal care, emergency housing, employment, education, legal services, etc. in an effort to help them meet their immediate needs and achieve their future goals. We provide maternity clothes and childbirth classes. We offer friendship, support and advocacy to her through our follow-up program, which continues through pregnancy and up to the baby’s first birthday. We host support luncheons to share pertinent information, provide a forum for discussion and encourage networking with other mothers. We offer clothing as baby grows, and provide emergency formula and diapers.

Birthright clients focus on growth through positive change, building a better life for their newborns and themselves. But behind every success story, there is a mentor... someone just like you! As a Birthright volunteer, you can share your skills and experience to help young women transform their lives and the lives of their children.
