Mission Statement

New York Restoration Project (NYRP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to reclaiming and restoring New York City parks, community gardens and open space. New York Restoration Project... Greening New York City one block at a time!

Description

Join NYRP in greening New York City! Whether you are a green veteran or environmental novice, we have gardening, planting, and stewardship opportunities for everyone to enjoy. Specific activities change as the seasons do, so we encourage you to check back regularly to see what we are up to around the city!

Clean up a park: Located in northern Manhattan, Sherman Creek and Swindler cove were cleaned and restored by NYRP to become a green space for recreational and educational use. Volunteers can take part in the day-to-day care and beautification of the park through our Volunteer Program. Or help teach others about nature by becoming a tour guide through NYRP's Community Park Guide Program.

Plant a tree: Help us grow our city's urban forest! MillionTreesNYC has become a huge part of NYRP's efforts to help make New York City a greener place to live. Throughout the spring and fall, join us for a community volunteer day by planting and stewarding trees in your neck of the woods or citywide!

Green a garden: NYRP's Volunteer Corps are a group of members that regularly help us beautify and enhance our network of community gardens throughout the five boroughs. Help us weed, plant, or water in a garden near you! We organize a variety of volunteer opportunities and special events, so join today!
