At the Raritan Bay Area YMCA we value the time and talents of our volutneers. We are committed to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. And we can't do it without the help of potential volunteers like you.

Under the direction of the Director of Compliance and Human Resources the Volunteer Coordinator will assist with recruiting potential volunteers, paperwork, training and on-boarding and tracking volunteer time and attendance.

Essential Functions May Include:

• Working with Director to develop strategies for volunteer recruiting and placement (not including policy volunteers).
• Working with supervisors to determine current needs for volunteers.
• Meeting with volunteer applicants to assess areas of interest and determine possible placement of applicants. Screens volunteers and forwards copies of applications to appropriate supervisors.
• Coordinating marketing or volunteer opportunities and determines best recruiting avenues to reach diverse groups.
• Making presentations to outside groups regarding the benefits of volunteering at the YMCA.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with community recruiting sources such as local high schools and colleges.
• Maintaining volunteer files.
• Tracking and reporting of volunteer hours. Generating volunteer reports on a monthly basis.
• Coordinating volunteer orientation, development and recognition program(s).

Skills Needed:

• Relevant experiences as a coordinator of people and/or activities
• Ability to use typical business software and office machines
• Understanding of the role of volunteerism within the YMCA.
• Detail-oriented and self-directed
• Ability to demonstrate the Y’s values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
• Ability to perform activities to the best of your ability.
• Ability to maintain a safe environment.
• Ability to provide feedback and communicate ideas.
• Uphold attendance and time schedule commitments.
