Previous Safety Day volunteer & his little helper

The home is the most common place for children age 1-4 to be injured. YOU can be part of a team that can help prevent these injuries by providing education and free home safety equipment!

With NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED and a 4 hour commitment YOU can help reduce the risk of home injuries to children under 5, by volunteering for the PIN (Preventing Injuries in Norwood) and CCIC (Comprehensive Children's Injury Center at Cincinnati Children's) SAFETY DAY. Lunch will be provided.

Volunteers will be trained to provide pre-registered Norwood, OTR, Price Hill and Avondale families with home safety education and basic home safety equipment installation. Teams of 2 volunteers (1 educator. 1 installer) will engage families in their home and provide an immediate increase in home safety with the scripted education and installation of basic home safety equipment. Power drill would be helpful but not necessary.

Previous volunteer feedback when asked about best part of Safety Day:

  • "Making a difference in the home that we visited to keep their children safer."
  • "Helping children to be safe!"
  • "Seeing those little faces and knowing they were a little bit safer because of our efforts."
  • "Feeling like I helped someone in need. This opportunity was very rewarding"
  • "Going into homes and installing. Interacting with families."
  • "Meeting the families and children."
