"Our Mission is to help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling."
This is a very social opportunity. You will be interacting with international travellers with various degrees of english speaking ability. Depending on the activity, you can be leading 5 to 20 people.
Local volunteers offer a unique insider’s perspective to our hostel guests. By volunteering for H.I. Santa Monica, you create the opportunity for hostellers to have a one on one encounter with a local.
We run a few tours and some food nights. We would train you for either, providing information and guidance. From there it is up to you to have fun and create a great experience for our guests.
We are also looking for people who would be willing to lead social activities, such as heading out to the beach for volleyball, game nights at the hostel, etc. We also need volunteers who could help the guests with directions, booking other hostels, and just generally having a good time.
Minimum Commitment: One activity/event per week

Who We Are
We bring travelers together in the largest hostel network in the USA, but that’s just the start: from local tours and experiences, to experiential learning programs, HI USA strives to bring moments of cultural understanding to our guests and community members. HI USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, member-based organization that reinvests our surpluses back into our hostels and programs so they can have an even greater impact, year after year.
