Do you have excellent canoeing skills? Do you enjoy sharing information about ecosystems with youth? Are you available on weekdays this summer? If so, then consider volunteering for the Urban Wilderness Canoe Adventures program of the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. Volunteers help stern 24 foot voyageur canoes on the Mississippi River then assist in leading education stations for youth in grades 5-8. Find out more about this opportunity at a volunteer recruitment fair, Thursday, March 27. It's an open house- stop by between 10 and 2pm at 111 E. Kellogg Blvd., Suite 212, St. Paul, MN 55101

Mission Statement
The Volunteers-In-Parks program, jointly managed by Mississippi National River and Recreation Area and Mississippi Park Connection, connects, educates, and promotes the enjoyment of the resources of the Mississippi River through unique and entertaining volunteer opportunities to the entire community.
Description
The Volunteers-In-Parks program is a joint program with Mississippi Park Connection. Mississippi National River and Recreation Area represents America's greatest river, the Mississippi, which weaves together the natural and cultural heritage and economic vitality of the region. The National Park Service works with partners to foster increased citizen awareness, advocacy, and enjoyment of the resources of the Mississippi River.
Volunteer-In-Parks provides people with opportunities to discover, experience, and enjoy the diversity of the Mississippi River while also preserving it for future generations through volunteer restoration projects and education programs.
