Position Summary: The Production Facility Maintenance Volunteer supports the work of the OMSI Production Facility team in general shop and tool maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide assistance with general sweeping/cleaning, tool maintenance, and painting of large and small areas.
• Work safely with cleaning chemicals and required equipment.
• Remove trash and materials.
• Wash and dry windows.
• Work with other volunteers and paid staff as required.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of standard tools.
• Ability to work independently as well as in teams.
• Past experience working safely in a shop or similar creative environment.
• Dependable, punctual and able to commit to at least one weekday volunteer shift per week for an on-going commitment

Working Conditions:

• Physical demands of this position require mostly standing, as well as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling anywhere from 5-100 Pounds.
• Work environment includes work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electric shock.
• Noise level ranges from moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic), loud (examples: metal can manufacturing department, large earth-moving equipment), to very loud (examples: jack hammer work, front row at a rock concert).
