Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Habitat for Humanity ReStore

  • 15 people are interested

Description:

Book lovers, rejoice! In addition to our bookstore, which is home to 5,000 gently used books, we have recently entered the world of online book sales. It takes a lot of volunteers to make the bookstore successful, and we wouldn’t be able to do it without our volunteers who specialize in one particular part of the process. Our online books volunteers manage the online inventory.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify saleable books from books that need to be recycled
  • Enter books into the software program to be sold online
  • Double check that information in the computer is accurate
  • Clean all books that will be listed for sale online
  • Mark all conditions of the book to be posted online

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy of Habitat for Humanity
  • General comfort working with computers (we will teach the specific software)
  • Ability to learn and retain processes, along with exceptions to the rule, and implement processes correctly
  • Very detail-oriented
  • Ability to make decisions regarding the quality level of books
  • Self-sufficient, requiring little supervision
  • Cooperative attitude
  • Ability to work closely with Julia’s Caf staff and volunteers
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • After a 3-4 week "audition" period, a long-term commitment is needed

Training:

On-site training is provided by an experienced bookstore volunteer and the full-time book staff. The training process generally takes 3-4 weeks.
