Easterseals Crossroads

iCan Bike, a program of iCan Shine, is a program for individuals with disabilities or special needs to learn how to ride a conventional bicycle. The leg work is accomplished by a large number of volunteers who act as "spotters" for the participants on the bikes. A "spotter" walks/ jogs/ runs alongside the participant and provides physical support and encouragement.

We need 2 volunteers per participant. Spotters are asked to sign up for the same 75-minute session each day for five days and are matched with the same rider each session. This allows the opportunity for the rider to develop trust in the spotter. Volunteers are asked to attend virtual orientation on Sunday, June 18, 2023.

Session times are as follows:

  • Session 1 - 8:30 - 9:45
  • Session 2 - 10:05 - 11:20
  • Session 3 - 11:40 - 12:55
  • Session 4 - 2:00 - 3:15
  • Session 5 - 3:35 - 4:50

By volunteering as a spotter with iCan Bike, you are helping a person accomplish a major milestone in life.
