Pets Companions & Kindred at Home - Hospice
Do you have a friendly, obedient dog? Join the PeopleFirst Hospice Pet Companion Volunteer Team. We seek volunteers who know the benefit of a loving pet and want to share it with others.
We provide an inspiring, comprehensive hospice volunteer orientation program for the pet owner and support in the pet certification process if necessary. If your pet is already certified by an agency like Pets & People, Therapy Dogs International (TDI) or Dog B.O.N.E.S., you are on the way!
You may enroll in one of our classes or do our home study training. We have opportunities are in many Eastern Massachusetts communities. We’ll assign you and your pet at a site convenient to your home or workplace.
With caring hearts, gentle spirits & helping hands volunteers are the heart of hospice. A friendly wag, a gentle nuzzle & the soft eyes of a pet can provide pleasure & comfort to hospice patients & their families facing the final journey of life.

Description
You can help Hospice patients in different ways:
1. Companionship to patients Hospice volunteers enhance and support the quality of the lives of hospice patients and their loved ones. Your visits offer companionship and support to patients and respite care to caregivers. You might encourage someone to talk about her life, write a letter, play a game or read a psalm from the bible.
2. Sharing Special Gifts and Talents: Volunteers offer their time and skills in the areas of art, music, alternative healing modalities, pet companionship, hairdressing. Do you have something to offer that is not listed here? Call us!
3. Support at the Hospice office: Filing, assembling admission packets, telephoning. These support activities really help us!
