ORGANIZATION: Society of St. Andrew West
Please visit the new page to apply.
I need 2 people with passenger vans or large vehicles to help transport Youth Volunteer Corp and leaders to local farms for gleaning. You'll drive 25 -45 minutes to the farm, wait for us to pick veggies, and then transport us and the veggies back to town to feed people in need. If you can help even 1 day, we'd love to hear from you!

- Cummunity for those who desire action
Let us love not only in words, but in deed and in truth. 1st John 3:18
Description
This is a non-denominational, nonprofit, nationwide, grass-roots hunger-relief organization. Society of St. Andrew (SoSA) salvages perfectly good graded-out or excess produce to feed people in need. We glean fields and orchards, pick up excess from farmer's markets and farms, and take this free, fresh, nutritious produce to local food pantries.
Through the Potato Project, growers donate tractor-trailer loads of nutritiious produce that cannot be sold for cosmetic reasons.
Through the Harvest of Hope program, people are educated about the hunger problem and encouraged to make lifelong commitments to being part of the solution, such as returning to their communities and planting gardens for food pantries.
