Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

We're looking for volunteers to help us year round! We will need help with pre-event details as well as day of tasks. Please contact us if you are interested.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting more than 300 communities to finish the fight. Every breast cancer walk and event is an incredible and inspiring opportunity to honor those who have battled breast cancer, raise awareness about what we can do to reduce our breast cancer risk, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease with research, information, services, and access to mammograms for women who need them.

Volunteers are also needed from the Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts areas to assist at the our 23 rd annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Providence! The 2016 Making Strides of Providence event is on October 16, 2016 at Kennedy Plaza in Providence. In celebration of survivorship, we expect more than 17,000 participants to come together, raising awareness and funds in the efforts to end breast cancer.

American Cancer Society is so determined to be here for the survivors, the patients, the caregivers, and the millions saved through early detection. Get ready to join more than one million volunteers nationwide. When you sign up, fundraise, and participate or volunteer, you will be there to support every person affected by breast cancer! We walk to make sure that anyone touched by this disease has a hand to hold. So give us yours by taking the first steps in supporting this year's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event.

Mission Statement

The American Cancer Society's mission is to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer.

Description

Together with our millions of supporters, the American Cancer Society (ACS) saves lives and creates a world with less cancer and more birthdays by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back.

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the ACS has regional and local offices throughout the country that support 11 geographical Divisions and ensure we have a presence in every community.

For over100 years, the American Cancer Society has been working to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. We believe every birthday you celebrate is a victory. Another year that cancer has not prevailed. Your birthday means everything to us. That’s why we’re fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. This year nearly 14 million cancer survivors will celebrate another birthday, thanks in part to the progress we've already made. But we can't stop there. With your help, we can create a world with even more celebrations, more laughter, and more birthdays for all. Together we will achieve a day when cancer never steals another year from anyone’s life.
