At our 13 branches, two overnight camps and more than 200 program sites, YMCA employees serve the people of King and south Snohomish Counties with programs and services tailored to fit the needs of those we reach. THE Y @ CASCADE PEOPLE’S CENTER

The mission of the Y @ Cascade People’s Center (CPC) is to provide a space for social, cultural, educational and recreational opportunities for all who live, work and play in the Cascade neighborhood. The CPC is located in the geographical center of Seattle and operates as a collaboration between Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Metrocenter YMCA. The space serves multiple functions in that it houses two YMCA programs; B.O.L.D/G.O.L.D and the YMCA Earth Service Corps. Additionally, the space functions as center and a hub to engage those who work and live in the Cascade neighborhood.

General Function

Assists the Director of the Cascade People’s Center in the implementation of public relations and marketing tactics to support overall communication and marketing objectives. Helps implement internal and external communication plans for YMCA’s Cascade People’s Center.

Entry Requirements
1. Actively pursuing a degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, graphic design or like field.
2. Strong skills in word processing, excel and social media.
3. Strong multi-tasking and project management skills.

4. Ability to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

6. Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.

7. Self-motivated go-getter; eager to dive right in and learn new things.
8. Prefer knowledge of Publisher.

Principal Activities
1. Assist with the development and implementation of the communication, publication and marketing plan to assure effective internal and external communication within the service area.
2. Write intriguing features and press releases.

3. Assist with event planning.

4. Assist in the management of preventative/reactive approaches to emergency procedures, potential and current crisis situations.
5. Assist with website content management, design of large print materials, flyer creation, etc.
6. Help manage social media content including Facebook, Twitter, Wordpress, etc.
