City Vision Internships is a Christian one-year, multi-year or summer internship program based on the AmeriCorps model. Interns serve at one of over 40 positions across the USA and Canada. In the past 10 years, we have placed over 500 full-time interns and 68,000 volunteers in hundreds of Christian ministries.

Live-in Evening Hospitality Co-Leader : This volunteer is co-responsible for hospitality at Grace Place in accordance with CAIN/ Grace Place Mission, Values, and Vision. The Live-In Evening Hospitality Co-Leader is accountable to the Board of Trustees, is supervised by and reports to Executive Director.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Offer onsite hospitality to Guests, Community and Volunteers
  • Coordinate with Volunteer Leaders
  • Orient and welcome new Guests and Volunteers into community at Grace Place/CAIN
  • Hold Guests, Community and Volunteers accountable to the Guest Handbook and Grace Place/CAIN's "Habits of Hospitality" and The Agreements
  • Guest advocacy (support, resource information and referral and review progress toward goals)
  • Guide guests in peaceful resolution of interpersonal problems
  • Assist guests in development of life skills
  • Resource procurement (food, household supplies, etc
  • Facilitate and participate in evening prayer/meditation
  • Facilitate and participate in monthly community gatherings for spirituality and fellowship
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director
Meetings and Dialogues
  • Weekly dialogue with Live-In Hospitality Community
  • Weekly team meeting with Executive Director
  • Plan and coordinate meetings with Grace Place/ CAIN's Guest Support
  • Plan/conduct House Meetings for dialogue about how Grace Place/CAIN Guests, Hospitality Co-Leaders and Volunteers are living as a community
Secondary Responsibilities/Functions
  • Participate in table fellowship when onsite at Grace Place/CAIN
  • Complete an "equal share" of household chores
  • Facilitate and participate in evening prayer/meditation when onsite at CAIN/Grace Place Administrative, communication and record-keeping tasks
For Interns without a Bachelors Degree:One Year Work Study Internship
  • Provides a work study internship with free tuition in City Vision College for a full year paid by hosting ministry.
  • Online courses providing accredited degrees in Nonprofit Management, Addiction Studies, and Urban Missions.
  • Housing is provided by hosting ministry (or a cash equivalent living stipend).
  • Any Pell grant or other federal financial aid paid as cash payment to student (up to $5,645).
  • Expectation is typically 29 hours of volunteer work with 16 hours of class work per week (45 hours total).
For Interns with a Bachelors Degree: One Year Paid Internship , Bakke Graduate Tuition Fellowship , or Technology Ministry FellowshupPaid Internship:
  • Housing is provided by hosting ministry (or a cash equivalent living stipend).
  • Volunteer Interns paid a living stipend from $200-$600/month (depending on site).
  • Free tuition in City Vision College for a full year paid by hosting ministry. (Optional)
  • Expectation is typically 40 hours of volunteer work per week.
Bakke Graduate Fellowship or Technology Ministry Graduate Fellowship
  • Free tuition to City Vision College Master's Program in Science, Technology, Society and Ministry or a Bakke Graduate University program including MBA, Masters in Global Leadership or Social Entrenpreneurship or Doctorates in Ministry or Transformational Leadership
  • Housing or rental stipend is provided if needed.
  • Candidates may receive up to 9 hours of independent study credit based on practicum work at ministry site.
  • Supervised nonprofit or ministry experience interning 29 hours per week.
Requirements
  • At least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must be a Christian
  • U.S. citizen, U.S. national or lawful permanent resident alien, or have a valid student or work visa
  • Able to make at least a one year commitment (may be extended by mutual agreement)
  • Able to financially live on just free housing (and stipend if you opt for the One Year Paid Internship) and any outside income sources you have.
  • Able to relocate to a location of a ministry site (unless a site exists at your current location)
  • Ability to model mature, peaceful interactions
  • Acceptance of responsibility for own choices/outcomes while respecting others' right to same
  • Desire to serve and live in community with women, children and other volunteers
  • Commitment to Catholic Worker ministry and Grace Place/CAIN Mission, Values and Vision
  • Commitment to participate in community gatherings, ecumenical fellowship and celebrations
  • Ability to effectively communicate with guests, volunteers, board, staff and public
  • Ability to organize activities, keep accurate records, work with minimal direction
  • Experience working with the homeless, families and/or substance abuse helpful
  • Some college preferred
