ORGANIZATION: Human Services Campus

The Lodestar Day Resource Center is a high-volume dayroom for homeless individuals. We supply support services, education and outlets for creative expression for our clients as they move towards self-sufficiency and a positive, successful future.

The library is a place for our clients to relax, enjoy books and play chess. The Library Lead will have freedom to create book clubs, themed book/genre days and board games days.

Volunteer Position: Library Lead

  • Greet clients.
  • Refer books to our clients.
  • Engage with clients.
  • Enforce the library rules.

Shifts: Monday-Saturday

8:00am-11:00pm

12:30pm-4:00pm

***The first step in volunteering is to attend our Volunteer Orientation! This is held the last Saturday of every month from 10am to 12pm. Please email us for further details.***

Description

AS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, THE HUMAN SERVICES CAMPUS, INC. (HSC):

  • Operates as the "front door" to the Campus via the Brian Garcia Welcome Center
  • Is the lead agency for single adult "coordinated entry" in the Valley, which means conducting intakes and assessments for all guests.
  • Connects individuals to a wide array of services guided by our HSC Navigator staff and provides matches to housing
  • When possible, we conduct "diversions" from the Campus by helping connect guests with family or friends
  • Provides additional hospitality resources including post office services and bag storage for Campus guests
  • Maintains a safe and secure Campus environment
  • Leads and fosters collaboration amongst the partner agencies to ensure our focus is ultimately about ending homelessness of our guests
