SoCal Harvest is looking for volunteers this Sunday to help pick Grapefruit in 90813. This rain has thrown us off and we would love the help of 10-12 volunteers to get back on track! We are also looking for 8-10 volunteers in 90814 at 11am to pick Oranges. Can you do one or both? Email us at SoCalHarvest@earthlink.net and we will send you confirmation and address.
Who are we?
SoCal Harvest - we pick backyard fruit from home gardens to share with the underserved in our community.
Volunteer Tasks?
Pick fruit by hand or using a fruit basket, climb ladder, help load truck, trim greenery from fruit, box fruit, have fun! Volunteers may take home a couple pieces of fruit!
Sunday 3/02/14 8:30 am. Pick will last approx 90 min. Come meet new people and feed your community!

Mission Statement
SoCal Harvest picks backyard fruit and produce to give food bank and food pantry clients a fresh, nutritious, pesticide-free and local alternative to processed (packaged) food.
Description
We are a non profit that harvests fruit for low income and homeless people in Long Beach. With the help of volunteers, Food Finders and Feeing Long Beach, we get the fruit to food panties around Long Beach and also to people on the street!

We know you have many choices for volunteering and how to spend your time, if you're able, we'd love to have you join us!
Some details: - no experience necessary! We will be: unloading (and reloading) the truck with tools and picked fruit; picking oranges with large fruit pickers and on ladders, trimming greenery from picked fruit, boxing fruit, raking and tidying the yard, and cleaning equipment (there are tasks for everyone, seated tasks too) and we'll train you - it's easy :)
