The Orange County Regional History Center (downtown Orlando) Event Volunteers are ambassadors of the museum. Our mission is to serve as the gateway for community engagement, education, and inspiration by preserving and sharing Central Florida's continually unfolding story.

HISTORY CENTER EVENTS:

  • May include: Hint of History Homeschool Workshops, Sensory Sundays, Family Days, History Alive!

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Volunteers assist with set up and breakdown, managing supplies, providing instructions, facilitating activities, etc.
  • Serve as a Lobby Host for guests. Provide event timeline instructions, way finding, and pass out literature/programs as required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Age 18 years with High School Diploma
  • Commit to volunteering 1 - 2 shifts per month
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Museum accessibility to all persons
  • Availability during evening hours and weekends is preferred

Description

The Orange County Regional History Center is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and a member of the American Alliance of Museums. The History Center includes a museum in a historic courthouse, the collection of the Historical Society of Central Florida, the Joseph L. Brechner Research Library, and Heritage Square park. It advances its mission through wide-ranging programs, permanent and traveling exhibits, and limited-run exhibitions from other prestigious institutions.
