FOCUS - This internship is designed to give the student the opportunity to gain experience and develop professional skills in the areas of Communications, Advertising, Marketing, Special Events and Development. The student will be exposed to the daily operations of a small office thatis part of a large non-for-profit humanitarian organization. Responsibilities may include:
- Prepare Press Releases and distribute
- Develop material for and execute to social media sites
- Write/produce Annual Report (fall)
- Assist with website updates
- Assist with planning and execution of Chapter events
- Represent Red Cross at meetings as designated by Director
- Provide Office Support including telephone and data base entry
- Other duties as designated by Executive Director and Office Manager
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Strong computer skills
- Flexible; team player; ability to handle multiple tasks
- Strong organizational skills
- Driver’s license preferred

Description
The national headquarters of the American Red Cross provides assistance with shaping and leading the organization in our mission and strategic plan. National Headquarters also assists with technical guidance to the many Red Cross units, such as Chapters, Armed Forces Emergency Services Stations and Blood Services regions. These units are responsible for the direct service to the community including disaster response and preparedness, messaging to Armed Forces military and their families, collecting and delivering blood products, teaching health and safety skills and helping reunite families through our international services.
