The Service to the Armed Forces Support Intern will be responsible for supporting US service members from every branch of service, their dependents and Veterans residing in the Western Washington region in obtaining social services, dealing with unexpected emergencies and working with the public and the military community to educate them on the services available from the American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces.

Projects will include; Command briefings of large groups of service members and their dependents regarding Red Cross services. Developing and implementing resiliency and disaster preparedness programs for the military community. Planning Red Cross events to build relationships with local Military commanders.

Qualifications: Undergraduate student with a background in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Communications, Public Affairs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Description

The national headquarters of the American Red Cross provides assistance with shaping and leading the organization in our mission and strategic plan. National Headquarters also assists with technical guidance to the many Red Cross units, such as Chapters, Armed Forces Emergency Services Stations and Blood Services regions. These units are responsible for the direct service to the community including disaster response and preparedness, messaging to Armed Forces military and their families, collecting and delivering blood products, teaching health and safety skills and helping reunite families through our international services.
