An intern in the Central Virginia Chapter will attend community events and educate the public on Red Cross programs and services. The will become trained in disaster response and educate various community groups by giving preparedness presentations. They will assist with the coordination of volunteers and give new volunteer orientations. They will also work with the Public Affairs department to create press releases and write articles about events they attend.
Qualifications: Undergraduate Senior or Master's level student with a background in Public Relations, Health Promotion, Education, Communications, Journalism, Project Management. Proficiency in all Microsoft office programs.

Description
The national headquarters of the American Red Cross provides assistance with shaping and leading the organization in our mission and strategic plan. National Headquarters also assists with technical guidance to the many Red Cross units, such as Chapters, Armed Forces Emergency Services Stations and Blood Services regions. These units are responsible for the direct service to the community including disaster response and preparedness, messaging to Armed Forces military and their families, collecting and delivering blood products, teaching health and safety skills and helping reunite families through our international services.
