The Mental Health Association of Frederick County is recruiting volunteers to observe and monitor visits at our Visitation Center. Observers supervise visits between children and noncustodial parents to ensure that visits are safe and positive. The observers also document visits for court and family services records.

Training is provided to volunteers in topics like safety, confidentiality, child development, child abuse and neglect, mental illness, substance abuse, and domestic violence. Skills developed while volunteering as an observer include assertive intervention, conflict resolution, and accurate documentation.

The Visitation Center serves families in Frederick and surrounding counties and assists parents with maintaining contact with their children when unsupervised contact is not possible.
