Volunteers get to know the child through face-to-face or phone contact. They talk with everyone in that child's life: parents and relatives, foster parents, teachers, medical professionals, attorneys, social workers, and others. They use the information they gather to inform judges and others of what the child needs and what will be the best permanent home for them.
To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you just may be the world.

Mission Statement
To break the cycle of abuse and neglect through volunteers advocating for the safe, nurturing, and permanent homes for foster youth in our community.
Description
CASA Jefferson, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which works to break the cycle of abuse and neglect through assigning trained community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children who have been abused or neglected in Jefferson Parish. Every child deserves to grow and learn in a safe and loving home. However, for thousands of children around the nation, violence, neglect, and maltreatment are all they know. Nationally, 686,000 children were found to be victims of maltreatment in 2012; 8,458 of these victims are from Louisiana. By assigning children in foster care with a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), CASA Jefferson ensures children are not lost in the shuffle of the overburdened legal or social service system.
