Earth Explorers(an educational nonprofit teaching science and filmmaking to middle school students underrepresented in STEM fields) is looking for a Volunteer Manager to aid in the recruitment and management of volunteers who support the nonprofit and its mission. The volunteer manager will be responsible for writing and posting calls for volunteers, interviewing and vetting candidates, and managing projects assigned to volunteers. The Volunteer Manager will work directly with the Earth Explorers ED to develop a recruiting & management plan based on the needs of the nonprofit. Currently Earth Explorers has a small group of volunteers and is looking to expand from less than 5 to approximately 15.

This is a volunteer position. If after 6 months a successful system has developed to bring in efficient and effective volunteers there is a possibility that this position may turn into a paid part time position. This position requires one weekly meeting with the Executive Director but otherwise can be managed remotely.

Key Duties:
Recruiting Volunteers:
Creating flyers, letters and other basic public communications related to volunteer recruitment. Writing and posting requests for volunteers on area volunteer/job posting boards.

Vetting Volunteers:
Managing the volunteer interview process by scheduling and conducting interviews with potential volunteers and calling volunteer references.

Managing Volunteers:
Managing a calendar of volunteer schedules and projects including project benchmarks and deadlines, assisting in the further development of the intern and volunteer programs. Helping to create a smooth system of recruiting, supporting and managing the volunteer experience. Communicating with the internal EE Business Development Dream Team and the Executive Director to understand and better direct volunteer needs and projects.

Approximately 10 hours per week
