The Volunteer Programs Intern will assist with the administrative aspects of the Volunteer Office. Responsibilities will include:
- Completing training o become an administrator for Volunteer Connections, the volunteer management database.
- Daily monitoring and maintenance of Volunteer Connections.
- Supporting the on-boarding of new volunteers throughout the application, orientation, interviewing and placement process.
- Coordinating Red Cross participation in community outreach events, including communicating with event sponsors and recruiting and equipping volunteers to staff events.
- Manage in-house community service volunteers.
Qualifications: Undergraduate Junior or Senior or Master's level student preferred with a background in Human Resources, Business Management, Organizational Leadership or Public Management. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) and internet research.

Description
The national headquarters of the American Red Cross provides assistance with shaping and leading the organization in our mission and strategic plan. National Headquarters also assists with technical guidance to the many Red Cross units, such as Chapters, Armed Forces Emergency Services Stations and Blood Services regions. These units are responsible for the direct service to the community including disaster response and preparedness, messaging to Armed Forces military and their families, collecting and delivering blood products, teaching health and safety skills and helping reunite families through our international services.
