Fitness Fun and Games Inc. is looking for Volunteers for 2014-2015. We have several different locations looking for volunteers of all backgrounds for ages 4 to 14, with the majority of students between 5 & 10 years old. We need tutors, mentors, artist, dancers, athletes, coaches etc. If you have a skill that you that you would like to share with some of the children of Baltimore City we would want you! Volunteering with us is great experience for majors in child development, education, family studies, social work, etc. May count for college credit as an internship, field experience, independent study, or practicum. Summer volunteer hours are optional, depending on the sites with summer programs, please contact us for further information.

Mission Statement

Fitness Fun & Games is a non-profit organization established to provide quality programs for children, ages 2 to 18, which support healthy growth of the individual including cognitive, physical, social and emotional development, during out-of-school hours.

Description

Activities for students include a wide variety to enrich the student's total development. Integrated, throughout the programs, is an emphasis on learning respect for self and others, the value of good manners, conflict resolution, character, teamwork, effective communication skills, healthy habits, and responsibility. Throughout the year at different locations, programs have included:
- sports, such as swimming, ice skating, basketball, soccer, roller skating, touch football, kickball, golf, tennis, bowling, lacrosse, volleyball, dance, etc.
- the arts, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, sewing, needlework, etc.
- cooking, drama, reading, writing, science, math, homework, computers, learning games, chess and board games, babysitter training, and leadership skills.
- field trips, such as Baltimore and D.C. Zoos, Science Center, Smithsonian Museums, Jeepers, Great Blacks in Wax, Visionary Art Museum, farms, Port Discovery, Baltimore Maritime Museum, movies, B & O Railroad Museum, Baltimore Museum of Art, Museum of Industry, Port Discovery, National Aquarium, Oriole Park, ExploraWorld, Museum of Dentistry, fire stations, Double Rock Park, Burdick Park, North Harford Playfield, and more (school holidays and summers).
