The Breast Cancer Resource Center is a tremendous part of the YWCA in Princeton. For more than 40 years, we have been providing free programs designed to help women through the entire breast cancer journey - from diagnosis through treatment, recovery, survivorship, and even recurrence. Our comprehensive approach to breast cancer support and education positively impacts the lives of more than 5,000 individuals each year, and helps hundreds of women learn to live with, through, and beyond breast cancer.

Recently, we created a new transportation and companionship program for women currently battling breast cancer. We are looking for volunteers to cook (or purchase) 3 meals that would feed two people. The goal of the transportation program is to drive each woman to her treatment, provide a companionship for this experience, and send her home with meals for her family so that she doesn't have to worry about dinner for her family after her treatment. If you are interested in helping us with the cooking portion of this wonderful program, please contact Nicole Cody, volunteer coordinator, at ncody@ywcaprinceton.org

Mission Statement

YWCA Princeton is dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women.

Description

The mission of the YWCA Princeton is to eliminate racism and empower women. Everything we do is intended to be true to this purpose.

More than 5,000 members take advantage of our programs and services: from child care, after-school care, and summer camps to dance, art and crafts and book clubs; from educational lectures and seminars to aquatics, martial arts and wellness classes.

Our mission to eliminate racism is highlighted by our English as a Second Language program and our multi-lingual nursery school, as well as our annual "Stand Against Racism," which has been replicated by YWCAs across the country.

Our mission to empower women is the hallmark of our Breast Cancer Resource Center, which provides help, hope and ongoing support for breast cancer survivors, and their families and caregivers.

Every day, we encourage women and girls to become volunteers, mentors, thinkers, and leaders. As we put our mission into action, the Friends of the YWCA lead the charge to allocate eighty-five cents of every dollar we raise to the women and families of our communities.
