The Communications intern will support the American Red Cross mission and represent the Red Cross in a professional manner by responding to assigned media requests and forwarding to Chapter Executive/Communications Officer. The intern will provide media with disaster response information through press releases and/or social media and gather content at the scene of disaster(s) for chapter use on social media accounts and in traditional media releases.
Qualifications: Undergraduate level or Masters level student with a background in Communications or Business. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platform knowledge.

Description
The national headquarters of the American Red Cross provides assistance with shaping and leading the organization in our mission and strategic plan. National Headquarters also assists with technical guidance to the many Red Cross units, such as Chapters, Armed Forces Emergency Services Stations and Blood Services regions. These units are responsible for the direct service to the community including disaster response and preparedness, messaging to Armed Forces military and their families, collecting and delivering blood products, teaching health and safety skills and helping reunite families through our international services.
