The volunteer will support the Public Affairs team: responding to disasters (mostly Single Family Fires and Multiple Family Fires) 24/7. The volunteer will assist the Public Affairs leads by sending press releases, taking pictures or managing social media.
Qualifications: Undergraduate Senior or 1st-year Masters Level with a background in Creative Writing, Journalism, Broadcasting, Advertising or Public Relations. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint. Excellent communications skills, able and willing to be at the site of emergency, media experience preferred, strong social media skills, strong writing skills and ability write press releases, work on website. Spanish is a plus.

Description
The national headquarters of the American Red Cross provides assistance with shaping and leading the organization in our mission and strategic plan. National Headquarters also assists with technical guidance to the many Red Cross units, such as Chapters, Armed Forces Emergency Services Stations and Blood Services regions. These units are responsible for the direct service to the community including disaster response and preparedness, messaging to Armed Forces military and their families, collecting and delivering blood products, teaching health and safety skills and helping reunite families through our international services.
