ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross-National Headquarters

The volunteer's role is to assist the Development Associate and support the Development department with administrative and project-based tasks. Potential tasks include:

- Database maintenance (adding new gifts to our database, updating donor records)

- Donor correspondence (answering phones, returning voicemails)

- Prospect research (Searching the internet for articles/information on potential donors)

- Proofreading and editing

- Assisting with mailings

- Prepare for and help during fundraising events. This can include preparing and printing necessary materials, setting up registration table and breaking down after the event.

Qualifications:

- Undergraduate Junior or Senior majoring in Social Work or English

- Strong attention to detail

- Phone skills

- Strong typing skills and familiarity with computers

- Familiarity with MS Office (primarily Word and Excel) a plus

- Familiarity with fundraising or database systems not necessary but a huge plus

Description

The national headquarters of the American Red Cross provides assistance with shaping and leading the organization in our mission and strategic plan. National Headquarters also assists with technical guidance to the many Red Cross units, such as Chapters, Armed Forces Emergency Services Stations and Blood Services regions. These units are responsible for the direct service to the community including disaster response and preparedness, messaging to Armed Forces military and their families, collecting and delivering blood products, teaching health and safety skills and helping reunite families through our international services.
