Description
Literacy for Life is a nonprofit organization committed to assisting adult learners and their families in the development of English language communication skills. We recruit and prepare volunteers as tutors, who in turn provide individual and group instruction to learners in reading, writing, speaking and basic number skills. The primary goal is to promote individual awareness and involvement in the literacy process, while furthering the ability of learners to function well in the community. The success of The Literacy Council's learning centers depends entirely on volunteer effort! There are Learning Centers throughout the Central Coast, which provide their Learners and Tutors with books, learning materials, and a friendly learning environment.
