ORGANIZATION: Arizona Council on Compulsive Gambling

The nonprofit Arizona Council of Compulsive Gambling (ACCG) is seeking an individual with an interest in community service to join our Board. Previous experience in fundraising and/or grantseeking for a 501c3 organization is preferred.

Working directly with the Executive Director and other board members, the volunteer will participate in the development and implementation of programs to raise awareness of problem or compulsive gambling as an addictive disorder and lead our efforts to secure funding for these programs.

This opening is available immediately and is critical to the continued success of this community-based organization.

Mission Statement

MISSION STATEMENT To advocate for and provide peer-to-peer response to the needs of individuals with a gambling disorder and their families; To provide impartial and unbiased referrals to appropriate resources for gambling disorder recovery, intervention, treatment and counseling; To educate the private sector, business communities and school systems about the early warning signs, methods of prevention, and treatment of gambling disorder; To collaborate with complementary agencies and organizations to elevate the awareness of all citizens of the state of Arizona about the social and economic impact of gambling disorder; To help restore Arizona families impacted by gambling disorder to health and balance.

Description

ACCG provides support to individuals with a gambling disorder and their families throughout the state of Arizona. We are dedicated to elevating public awareness of this disorder and educating the public and private sectors. Our comprehensive website moves visitors through an array of clinical and situational assessment tools, a wealth of background information, and a spectrum of recovery, treatment and counseling resources. Our toll-free helpline enables callers to speak directly with a peer in recovery from gambling disorder who can listen with compassion, understand their pain, triage their needs, and provide immediate and appropriate referrals. ACCG maintains close and vital relationships with the recovery community, including Gamblers Anonymous and Gam-Anon, inpatient treatment and outpatient counseling sectors, and the criminal court and correctional systems. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and a proud affiliate of the National Council on Problem Gambling.
