The Organization

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.

The Internship

The American Red Cross offers exceptional undergraduate and graduate students unpaid internship opportunities at our Red Cross national headquarters in Washington, D.C. and in chapters across the country through our Summer Internship Program. Interns are matched with a specific department where they work on advancing critical projects.

The overall aim of the program is to attract a pool of diverse, skilled, enthusiastic young professionals and provide them with an opportunity to build a long-term, substantive relationship with the Red Cross.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate (Junior or Senior) pursuing a degree in Business Management, Marketing, Computer Science, Information Technology
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Experience with any Marketing CRM or SasS platform is a plus

The Marketing CRM Intern reports to the Vice President of Marketing CRM, Customer Experience & Marketing Excellence.

We are looking for an individual with a combination of business intellect, technology savvy and passion for knowledge. In this internship, become immersed in the world of Marketing Automation at the heart of a humanitarian organization. Join us in this exciting journey, together we will leverage the American Red Cross Marketing CRM platform (Aprimo) to enable our marketers via the latest industry trends, proven expertise, cutting edge innovations and best-in-class technology.

Marketing Automation: Work with Marketing CRM Analyst to gain knowledge and experience on how the American Red Cross Marketing department uses the Marketing Automation software in its daily operations. Apply these in future configuration and enhancements in collaboration with American Red Cross Marketing business andtechnology owners.

Process Improvement: Work with internal Markers to streamline business process, email and direct mail targeting, reporting and etc. within the Marketing Automation software to reflect those changes.

Project Management/Administrative Duties: Compile meeting notes, weekly status reports, maintain SharePoint, document configuration documents and coordinate meetings between internal clients and external consultants.

Description

The national headquarters of the American Red Cross provides assistance with shaping and leading the organization in our mission and strategic plan. National Headquarters also assists with technical guidance to the many Red Cross units, such as Chapters, Armed Forces Emergency Services Stations and Blood Services regions. These units are responsible for the direct service to the community including disaster response and preparedness, messaging to Armed Forces military and their families, collecting and delivering blood products, teaching health and safety skills and helping reunite families through our international services.
