Help your community and the environment by volunteering at our Metro North Community Recycling Centers! Your volunteer service is so important - r ecycling preserves forests; keeps oil, natural gas, and minerals in the ground; and prevents air and water pollution. Our recycling centers are unique in that we accept items not recycled curbside and provide options to the many people who do not have recycling available at home.
This outdoor volunteer opportunity is great for students who want to earn service-learning hours and for retired folks who want to stay active. Volunteers assist the recycling center site manager with various duties, such as breaking down cardboard, assisting patrons, etc. Flexible shifts - Wednesday through Saturday.
Recommended Wed, Thurs, and Fri shift: 10:30 am - 1:00 pm. Recommended Saturday shifts: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
Bonus: All volunteers will receive a reusable branded "Bridging The Gap" shopping bag and a KIND granola bar, courtesy of Cargill Cares!
Metro North Community Recycling Center is located north of the river. We have a special need for Saturday volunteers. All volunteers must register in advance. Contact Amy Smith at 816-561-1087 or email. We apologize that we are not able to offer or sign off on court-mandated community service or disciplinary service.

Mission Statement
Bridging The Gap's mission is to make the Kansas City region sustainable by connecting environment, economy and community.
Description
Bridging The Gap (BTG) educates citizens, businesses and governments about the impact their decisions have on our environment. We help them follow through with direct action to make our world, region and community green, healthy and sustainable.
BTG does this by working to create awareness of our environment and the need to make our communities sustainable at every level and in all life activities -- in homes, workplaces, schools and neighborhoods. In all of our work, we seek to create partnerships among governments, businesses, community leaders and individuals to improve our community by making it healthy and sustainable for our future.
