CART is a group of highly dedicated volunteers who accompany a child and their family through the child’s forensic medical exam for suspected sexual assault or molestation.

As an Advocate you will respond to one of three local hospitals when contacted by the forensic nurse. We serve hospitals in Long Beach, Torrance, and San Pedro.

As the child/adolescent's advocate, CART members accompany the victim at the hospital and provide companionship during their visit by playing games, reading books, doing puzzles or other activities. CART members accompany the victim during the exam, help the parents cope with what has happened. CART members provide information for the family about the treatment services offered by For The Child for both the child/adolescent and the parent(s).

Advocates are required to complete a 40-hour training provided at no cost by For The Child. The training takes place two times per week in the evening and Saturdays over a 30 day period. Must be fully vaccinated and submit proof of COVID vaccinations.

**Next Training starts: August 29 thru October 3, 2023.
*Training days and times: Saturdays 9am-2:30pm and Tuesdays 6pm-8:30pm
*** Background packets must be completed prior to the training start date.
