Treasurer Position Available

The Treasurer of Suicide Prevention Services (SPS) acts as a steward of the financial resources of the organization. The Treasurer is a board member and part of the executive leadership. Responsibilities are as follows:

Annually

• Interact with external auditors, and facilitate preparation of annual audit.
• Interact with external accountant on audit matters.
• Prepare managerial responses to audit.
• Review preliminary audit and recommend approval to board of directors.
• Review and secure line of credit with bank.
• Review and recommend changes as necessary to the organizations financial practices. (See Financial Management Policies.doc).
• Review insurance program.
• Approve and sign tax returns.
• Draft annual operating budget and present to board for approval.

Monthly

• Review financial statements as prepared by external accountant. Financial reporting includes monthly balance sheet, revenue and expenses statement (including comparison with budget and payables and receivables) and statement of cash flows.
• Review bank balances and budget.
• Recommend adjusting journals as necessary.
• Lead and meet as necessary as chair of financial committee.
• Present reports to board and identify or highlight any new or significant changes to finances

Periodically and as needed

• Review operational controls over finances and cash.
• Assist in fund raising activities and assist with cash and collections.
• Respond to queries from accountant, external funding sources, or auditors.
• Recommend changes in salaries and payroll activities.
• Assist with large procurement matters , e.g. large purchases or changes in services
• Provide reporting and other assistance for Paypal, Firstgiving, Constant Contact, and GoPayment, and Online Quickbooks.
• Assist with various projects as a volunteer and board member
