We are looking to add new members to the Justin's Gift Team - would you like to join us?
PROM TEAM: Help organize our first LGBTQ and Ally Friends Teen Prom. This Team would do things such as locating a venue, secure catering, coming up with theme/decorations, coordinate set up/tear down coordination.
EVENT TEAM: Help coordinate the monthly social events that we do, such as the Halloween and Valentine Dances. This Team will decide what will occur at our events.
FUNDRAISING TEAM: Explore opportunites to raise money for the organization as well as possibly coordinate frundraising events. These events could range from Black Tie events, to house parties to cabaret events - based on whatever the desire of the Team is.
OUTREACH TEAM: Help get the word out about Justin's Gift through the use of social media and e-newsletters. This Team would also reach out to schools about the work we are doing and also secure our presence at LGBTQ friendly community events.
SUPPORT TEAM: This Team would get the ball-rolling on an after-school support group for LGBTQ teens. They would be responsible for connecting with various mental health organziations and professionals, with the goal being the kicking-off an after school weekly support group starting fall of 2014.
"THE BIG PICTURE" TEAM: This Team would work together to explore ways to help ensure the continued success of the organization as well as looking into ways of making our long term goal of a Community Center happen!

We are looking to expand our Board. These individuals oversee the general operations and make the primary decisions of the organization. These individuals need to be self-motivated and dedicated to our cause so they can carry this organization to the next level. The Board meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 6 pm-8 pm in Coon Rapids. Please direct questions or interests to jefferson@justinsgift.org

Create safe environments where young people can be themselves in a bully-free zone, achieve self-confidence and be proud of who they are.
Description
Justin's Gift provides regular social events for LGBTQ youth and their ally friends. Though the majority of our events are focused on teens we also do provide some youth and family focused events. The organization also works to create safe spaces within schools and other organizations that work with youth. This goal is achieved through consultations and trainings. We also work as a resource to help connect families and institutions to mental health support.
Justin's Gift works to fulfill the needs of youth based on Maslow's Hierarchy Theory of Needs. Until youth's basic needs are met, they are not able to focus on learning. Life is challenging enough, without the additional challenge of not having an education,. A priority of Justin's Gift is to inspire yputh to complete their education. Justin's Gift will help fill the following need, belonging, self-esteem, self-respect, and ultimately a realization of their importance in the world.
