Seattle Habitat Young Professionals ("HYP") is aimed at mobilizing Seattle area young professionals to aid Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County's mission to eliminate poverty housing. By empowering our volunteers to utilizing their time, resources and talents, HYP aims to help address the region's need for affordable housing.

Help us Build the HYP by serving on our Steering Committee as the Treasurer and Fundraising Chair! It's an excellent opportunity to be a part of a rapidly-growing movement among young professionals. Meet new people, make quality connections, boost your resume, and have fun with us!

Position Description: Treasurer & Fundraising Chair The Treasurer/Fundraising Chair is responsible for managing the overall finances of Habitat Young Professionals; coordinating with Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County (HFHSKC) as necessary for financial and fundraising issues; producing a yearly budget proposal to be approved by HFHSKC; liaising with the HFHSKC on reimbursements for committee expenditures; assisting with the organization of special fundraising events and helping the Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County coordinate certain aspects of their annual fundraising event.

Additional time commitment*: 1-3 hrs per month

Habitat Young Professionals is considered to be a working board. We do not oversee an organization, we are the organization which requires active participation from our Steering Committee members. Each member must commit to a one-year term and can renew for a second term. In addition to their roles, the time commitment for each committee member is an average of 120-140 hours per calendar year which includes:

All Steering Committee meetings: second Sunday of the month, 1-3pm in Seattle. 6 happy hours (minimum): the third Thursday of the month, 5:30-8:30pm in Seattle. Monthly duties/tasks: 4-5 hours per month (average, may fluctuate) Habitat's Annual Benefit Event: usually 4-6 hours day-of in first quarter of the year, plus planning time leading up to the event.

There is no monetary commitment for HYP Steering Committee members. However, we expect each board member to donate an amount that is personally significant to them at Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County's annual fundraising event.
