The Growing Food Together CSA housed at the AFYA Community Garden has been a staple in the local food movement in the Park Heights Community since it's inception in 2009. This year, the AFYA Community Garden is partnering with the Greener Garden Urban Farm to create the Urban Oasis Food Cooperative in Baltimore with the intention to expand access to healthy and affordable food amongst Park Heights Residents.

The Urban Oasis Food Cooperative bridges residents, food advocates, farmers and everyone in between together to end hunger and disease in Park Heights. We are looking for individuals who are interested in participating in this growing movement. Volunteers will need to commit at least five(5) hours at one of our two locations each week. Mission Statement

Our mission is to collaborate in the improvement of the health of Baltimore's Park Heights community through wellness initiatives, health education, environmentalism, and service.

Description

The Park Heights Community Health Alliance (PHCHA) was organized in 1996, in a partnership between Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and a handful of concerned Park Heights community residents. The Park Heights community is disproportionately affected by a variety of negative health status indicators. In collaboration with community partners such as Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Park West Medical Systems, and a host of others, we seek to have a positive impact on the community at large.

PHCHA is committed to improving access to primary care for residents of Baltimore City. PHCHA's goal is to help maximize the Park Heights community's potential as a healthy, safe, and vital neighborhood.
