The Pets for Vets program is dedicated to supporting veterans and providing a second chance for shelter pets by rescuing, training and pairing them with America’s veterans who could benefit from a companion animal. We are a volunteer-run organization, with chapters in several states, and we are expanding every year with a goal of a chapter in every state.
We are currently looking for a chapter director in the Washington, DC greater metro area who has a passion for helping veterans and animals.
Please send letter of interest, letting us know why you would like to take on this volunteer role.10 More opportunities with Pets for Vets, Inc.

P. O. Box 10860, Wilmington, NC 28404, US
Mission Statement
Pets for Vets enriches the lives of Veterans by creating a Super Bond with custom trained working animals.
Description
Pets for Vets selects shelter animals for each veteran to match his or her personality. Professional animal trainers rehabilitate the shelter dogs using positive reinforcement and teach the dogs foundational behaviors and skills to fit into the Veteran's lifestyle. Training can include desensitization to wheelchairs or crutches and recognizing and reacting to panic or anxiety disorder behaviors. Each pet will be spayed or neutered, healthy, up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Each veteran-pet match is provided with all of the necessary equipment to start their new life together. This program is provided at no cost to the Veteran.
