About Chesapeake Natives Inc.

Mission Statement

Chesapeake Natives promotes, protects, and propagates plants native to the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

Description

Chesapeake Natives is a small, busy, volunteer driven non-profit. We're enthusiastic promoters of native plants, especially those of the Chesapeake Watershed. These plants have grown vigorously in our region for thousands of years and are the best choice for restoring healthy watersheds and diverse wildlife to our area.

We responsibly gather seeds from wild native plant populations, grow them in our nursery and demonstration gardens, sell them at plant sales around the area and work with schools setting up rain and butterfly gardens.

Currently, while propagating native plants, we are also stabilizing and restoring a derelict greenhouse in Rosaryville State Park near Upper Marlboro.
