Neighbors provides serves over 100 families a week with thousands of pounds of food and clothing to families each week. Donation drives help to keep the food shelves stocked and clothing racks full. The Donation Rescue Intern assists with coordinating and supporting food and clothing drives in the community. This is an opportunity for early career nonprofit development officers and fundraisers to gain first-hand knowledge and hands-on experience.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years old and a currently enrolled post-secondary student pursuing a degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or related field
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Have a valid driver’s license, regular access to motor vehicle, and evidence of current insurance
- Detail oriented, excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivator, and passionate about Neighbors’ mission
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs. (on occasion it will be strenuous, regular lifting)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must undergo and pass a criminal history and reference check prior to acceptance
Commitment
As determined by the requirement of the internship program guidelines. A minimum of 5-10 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined upon acceptance--some tasks may require service outside of normal business hours. Neighbors’ business hours are 8:15-4:30, Monday through Friday.
Depending on the start and end date of the semester, the intern will also need to be available for large scale community donation drives. These include:
- Minnesota Food Share (throughout March)
- Postal Food Drive (first weekend in May)
- Farmer’s Markets (June through August)
- Holiday Program (starting October through December)
- Future donation drive days and times to be determined
