Alzheimer's Association Blondes vs. Brunettes is a volunteer event that brings the passion and spirit of young community leaders together to support the Alzheimer’s Association. The event is an organized women’s flag football game in which the two participating teams are divided based on the age-old rivalry between blondes and brunettes (Note: Redheads are "free agents," permitted to play for the team of their choice. However, this group does not discriminate, all women are invited to play for either team.)

Help us Tackle Alzheimer's by volunteering for the Planning Committee! Committee meetings are held the second Monday of each month from 7-8pm. Please join us at the Committee Recruitment Mixer on 1/20/15 at Sports Basement. Enjoy appetizers and beverages while learning more about this volunteer opportunity.

Funds raised at Blondes vs. Brunettes events benefit the care, support, advocacy and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. Blondes vs. Brunettes was established in 2005 in Washington DC and is now played in 35 cities across the county. 2013 marked the first year for BvB in San Francisco and raised $28,000 with 30 players and over $41,500 in 2014. Help us reach our goal in 2015 of raising $50k and managing 40 players.

The planning committee is responsible for the overall event experience and reaching fundraising goals. Committee roles include: fundraising and sponsorship, in-kind donations, game day logistics, volunteer management, advertising and marketing, player recruitment and management, and coaching. Men and women are encouraged to join the Committee and you do not need to play in the league to be a part of the planning committee.

Mission Statement

The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research. Our mission: To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our vision, A world without Alzheimer's disease.

Description

We provide programs and support services for patients, families, caregivers, and others in the San Francisco Bay Area affected by Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Outside the federal government, the Alzheimer's Association is the largest research funder in the country and offers advocacy opportunities to make public policy change.

At the Alzheimer's Association, diversity and inclusion are vital to our mission. The Association leads strategic initiatives to support diversity and a culture of inclusivity. These strategic initiatives also strengthen outreach to all populations, providing communities with resources and support to address the Alzheimer’s crisis. By partnering with organizations locally and nationally to advance diversity and inclusion, the Association can broaden its reach in all communities.
