Volunteer at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History Discovery Room. The Discovery Room is a hands-on space geared to families with children who want to explore the natural world at their own pace guided by their own interests. Volunteers who work open hours will guide children and families through activities, help them find answers to their questions and encourage their curiosity. They provide a safe environment for families to interact together by making sure that the room does not exceed 35 guests at any one time and that there is an adult present with children. School programming volunteers work with students in small groups asking open ended questions and guided learning. The goal is to enhance our guests visit by interacting and encouraging exploration of our hands-on collection.
