Neighbors relies on the generosity of the community to operate day-to-day. Fundraising events help to bring in much needed material and monetary donations. The Fundraising Events Intern assists with the preparation and implementation of events that range from small donor stewardship receptions to larger fundraisers. This is an opportunity for early career event planners and fundraisers to gain first-hand knowledge and hands-on experience.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old and a currently enrolled post-secondary student pursuing a degree in event planning, nonprofit management, hospitality, business administration, or related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Have a valid driver’s license, regular access to motor vehicle, and evidence of current insurance
  • Detail oriented, excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivator, and passionate about Neighbors’ mission
  • Must undergo and pass a criminal history and reference check prior to acceptance

Commitment

As determined by the requirement of the internship program guidelines. A minimum of 5-10 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined upon acceptance--some tasks may require service outside of normal business hours. Neighbors business hours are 8:15-4:30, Monday through Friday.

Depending on the start and end date of the semester, the intern will also need to be available for each event. These include:

  • Great Neighbors Duck Races (first Saturday in October)
  • Walk to End Hunger (Thanksgiving Day morning)
  • It’s a Wonderful Life (second Tuesday evening in December)
  • Future event days and times to be determined

At Neighbors, all donations and volunteer service directly supports the local community.
