ORGANIZATION: Catholic Community Services' Volunteer Services

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 32 people are interested

We are looking for volunteers in Lewis, Mason and Thurston counties to help low-income seniors and disabled adults with various services that allow them to remain as independent as possible in their own homes. Things they need help with include housework, yardwork, transportation, repairs, meal preparation and personal care. Volunteer around your schedule, doing what you would like to do. Some volunteers have one on-going client, others like to be "floaters", helping out according to our needs. Great opportunitis for groups, particularly Schools, Business and Youth Groups.

About Catholic Community Services' Volunteer Services

Location:

3545 7th ave SW, STE t-004, Olympia, WA 98502, US

Mission Statement

We believe every child should grow up in a safe, loving and nurturing environment We believe the elderly should be able to live with security and dignity. We believe healthy family life should be affirmed and supported in our communities We believe in compassion, love and respect for all people, especially the poor and most vulnerable. We believe in joining with others to change systems that oppress, discriminate or otherwise cause human suffering. We believe employees and volunteers should work in an environment that fosters respect, teamwork and excellence. We believe in all of these things for all people, whatever their color, whatever language they speak or however they worship.

Description

Our program exists as a safety net for low-income elders and people with disabilities (also low-income)by providing them with services that allow them to remain living as independently as possible in their own homes (not assisted living). For example, a 89 year old woman who only collects $600/mo. in Social Security needs help with her lawn. She can't afford to pay someone, and if her lawn goes a couple of months without being mowed, now the lawn is a fire hazard.
