SAFETY EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Office of Strategic Services
IDNR is always looking for qualified individuals who would like to become volunteer instructors for the following safety education programs:
* Boating Education
* Hunter Education
*Snowmobiling Education
*Trapping Education
Qualifications include:
Be 18 years of age or older.
- Submit an application (page 1) (page 2), provided by IDNR to the appropriate Regional Volunteer Services Coordinator: www.dnr.state.il.us/SAFETY/Map.htm.
- Be a graduate of the student safety course in the specific program for which they are applying for certification as an instructor.
Certification Process
After an application has been submitted, it will be reviewed by the Regional Volunteer Services Coordinator (VSC). Application may be subject to background check.
2. The VSC will assign the applicant to work and train with a master instructor/instructor team.
3. The applicant must complete a minimum of five hours actual classroom instruction in order to fulfill the student teaching requirement.
4. An evaluation of the applicant’s student teaching performance will be completed by the assigned master instructor.
5. The VSC will review the evaluation and certify the applicant on the master instructor’s recommendation.
