URBAN AND COMMUNITY FORESTRY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Division of Forest Resources
Office of Resource Conservation
IDNR encourages Illinois residents to find ways to assist their local urban and community forestry programs by serving on Tree boards, volunteering at Arbor Day events and helping to plant trees where there is no designated department to fulfill that function in their communities. Volunteers can also help establish a Tree City USA designation within their community.
Here's what we need to know to help get a volunteer involved:
-Volunteer's skill set.
-Types of projects the volunteer would be interested in assisting with...tree planting, tree pruning, Arbor Day celebrations, distributing information about trees, speaking to groups about trees, tree board membership or assistance, storm mitigation response or another interest.
-How far would the volunteer like to travel? Within own community or beyond?
-Contact information.
To learn more about these volunteer opportunities, please contact Reinee Hildebrandt at (217) 785-8771 or Reinee.Hildebrandt@illinois.gov.
