The Pastoral Care Department at South Pointe Hospital trains lay persons and clergy in some of the skills, specific to hospital ministry, in order to prepare them to volunteer once a week at Sourh Pointe Hospital in our Volunteer Ministry Program. The Volunteer Ministry is a non-denominational ministry. We do not impose our beliefs or religious practices. We are caring listeners who have been trained to help others to get in touch with those spiritual and personal resources necessary to maintain their sense of well-being, faith and hope. • Emergency room ministry: Should be a caring and patient listener with the ability and openness to learn to work in an inter-faith/multi cultural setting. Sincere appreciation and respect for religious/spiritual traditions other than one's own. Completion of required training, orientation and continuing education classes that are provided by the hospital. Able to learn to use voice mail while on duty.
